Scholarship Criteria

Our Association, in recognition of academic achievement extends invitations to apply for one of its available scholarship.

 

In order to qualify for a scholarship, prospective candidate must meet the following selection criteria:

1. Be a high school graduate attending an accredited college in the academic year for which the scholarship is applied
2. Be of Caribbean descent
3. Reside in southern New Jersey
4. Submit an essay (minimum of 500 words) on one of the topic listed below:

(a) Describe your experience as a Caribbean descendant living in the USA.
(b) Put forward an argument that will encourage Caribbean citizens residing in the U.S.A. to participate in organization representing the Diaspora.
(c) How can you as a Caribbean descendant contribute to the advancement of the Caribbean?
(d) Why should the CASNJ grant you a scholarship?
(e) How can you utilize your planned area of study to make this world a better place?


The essays will be competitive and will be utilized, in addition to your GPA and SAT/ACT scores, in the overall evaluation process.

The objective of this program is to encourage the pursuit of tertiary education within the US/Caribbean community of southern New Jersey.
